Let's make a deal

Progressive jews, jewish voice for for peace and a whole lot of other people on the left are calling for a ceasefire and a cessation of the horrible violence visited upon the people of Gaza by the horrific Israeli occupiers. It is obviously the time to do the Christian thing and turn the other cheek.

What are the leaders of Hamas themselves saying? They want a repeat.

Annihilate.

"We must teach Israel a lesson, and we will do this again and again," he added.

So I guess the whole "swords into plowshares thing" is off the table and out of the question? Hamas leader Khaled Mash'al is spouting for more of the same:

Hamas leader Khaled Mash'al and his special representative to Pakistan Dr. Naji Zuhair told the Mufti Mehmood Conference in Pakistan that Hamas will work for the implementation of shari'a rule not just in Palestine but all over the world, that Hamas is gaining successes both on the ground and at the international level, and that Israeli Jews will be expelled from Palestine.

So it will not be enough for Israel and Palestine to live under that beautiful Sharia law, they will extend it to the whole planet. Have you seen what women's rights are like in Gaza, Iran, Afghanistan? Why are the feminists so silent? Enjoy the sunshine girls, your chadors are on their way. Read Hamas's charter if you have any doubt about their intentions.

And you know the dead babies and old people, the german girl who got her head cut off after she was paraded through the streets naked? They didn't really mean to do that, there were complications...

Ghazi Hamad, deputy foreign minister for Hamas, cynically told a broadcaster that the terrorists 'did not want to harm civilians' during their bloody rampage through southern Israel, which saw more than 1,400 Israelis murdered in cold blood.

He said the terror group had only done so due to 'complications on the ground' - a grim throwaway reference to the Nova festival massacre which saw scores of innocent young people gunned down, mutilated and kidnapped.

These sound like good people we can do business with. Let's make a deal. Sounds like they can be trusted. Sharia will start at Harvard, NYU, Columbia, Berkeley, Cornell and Penn. Let's see how the kids dig it.
