Ron Desantis doesn't think it is fair that the Proud Boys and other insurrectionists involved in the January 6 Capitol break in have been sentenced to such extreme sentences.
“They just walked into the Capitol. If they were B.L.M., they would not have been prosecuted,” Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida said of some defendants in an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday, adding that he would consider pardoning them.
Of others, he said, “They may have been violent, but to say it’s an act of terrorism when it was basically a protest that devolved into a riot, to do excessive sentences — you can look at, OK, maybe they were guilty, but 22 years if other people that did other things got six months?”
This "whataboutism" is of course, utter nonsense. In the first place, they didn't just walk into the building. But more importantly, if two thousand black BLM supporters had violently broke through the police lines and into our nation's Capitol, I am pretty sure that they would have been mowed down with automatic weapons like rats.
These vermin should consider themselves lucky.
