Red House vs. Red Senate

I know that many of you could care less about politics. I do enjoy it to some degree but will keep this one to a minimum. We know about the war between red and blue but could there be a more critical squabble brewing?

Read GOP senators rattled by radical conservative populism.

There is such a schism between the Senate and House Republicans.  Today seventy house members voted with Matt Gaetz to give no more money to Ukraine. This is apostasy to the Senate.  The recent defense bill was a culture war laundry list that stands to go nowhere in the Senate. And the House is doing everything it can to provide cover for Trump, the Senate apparently done with him.

Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

I do think that the Senate Dems had an unforced error on asking the military to pay for abortions for servicewomen. Like it or not (and I don't), we have a Hyde amendment that forbids such funding and it plays right into their hands.

The conservative populists have one thing right. There is a big sense among many that they have been left behind by a business and political leadership that enriches and protects itself while ignoring traditional Americans. The right wingers are taking short term advantage buy firing up the flames and riding the anger into office. The big problem I see is that there are no leaders who can put their finger on just why this alienation is so powerful. None of these leaders have a decent idea how to bring it back together and neither do I. I suppose it will work itself out in time but how?
