Iowa has shoehorned in a late night six week abortion ban. This is despite an overwhelming majority of the people of the state favoring reproductive choice, almost two to one.
Sixty-one percent of Iowa adults say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 35% say the procedure should be illegal in most or all cases.
Do you really think that the people in Iowa would have voted any differently than the folks next door in Kansas did, if given a chance? The goal now is to strip the people of their voice and conservatives will go out of their way to tell you that majoritarianism is frowned upon in the constitution. This is their favorite refrain when they don't have the votes.
Or, "Hey, it's a republic, not a democracy, open wide while we cram this one down your throats." Is it any wonder people have lost all their faith in government and the judiciary? Leaders and Justices that fail to represent the views and values of their constituency are ultimately treading on very thin ice.
Although the bill does include exceptions for rape and incest, the bill specifies a 45-day limit for a rape to be reported or 140 days for incest to be reported for the crime to qualify as an exception to the abortion prohibition.

Do you believe that there should be any restrictions on getting an abortion ?
Honestly, I do not. I leave it up to women to decide what is best for them.
