Good article today at the San Diego Union/Ramona Sentinel. Unincorporated areas of San Diego County would like a bigger voice and place at the table for regional planning decisions. They want a seat on SANDAG's Board of Directors.
Fallbrook Planning Group Chair Eileen Delaney, who has served on the group for 24 years, said the unincorporated communities make up the second largest territory in the county behind the city of San Diego.
“SANDAG needs people with boots on the ground, who live and work in the unincorporated areas,” Delaney said. “We’re much different communities than some of the incorporated areas. Our areas are more rural as opposed to urban cities.”
This is very important so areas like Fallbrook and Ramona don't become the county's dumping ground. Our needs in rural communities are different. We deserve a voice. Good for them.
