Good Luck Joey!

Israel's baseball team is playing Nicaragua today in the World Baseball Classic. The game is being held in Miami. The Oriole's Dean Kremer is slated to be the starting pitcher for the Israelis.

Ex Padres players Ian Kinsler and Brad Ausmus are both coaching the Israel team.

My fellow Fallbrookian and good friend Steve Wagman's son Joey Wagman pitches for Israel, not sure if he is going to see any action today. He is a dual citizen.

The former Cal Poly pitcher and Olympian played for Team Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

Ranked No. 41 in the world at the time, Israel beat No. 3 South Korea, No. 4 Chinese Taipei and No. 9 Netherlands in the first round, and then No. 5 Cuba in the second round before bowing out.

We here at the Blast are kvelling, rooting for Joey and wishing he and all of his teammates success against a very tough team.

Yom tov!
