Ah, I met these fellows in Peoples' Park in Berkeley. They had just formed a band, they told us, and were very excited about it. I believe they played that day, (I recall they weren't very good), while the hippies gave people rides on a rope strung from a telephone pole set up in the dirt with a god's eye on top. We had driven up from LA on the spur of the moment, unaware Peoples' Park was happening. We left LA at about 7pm the previous night because we wanted to catch an old film playing on Telegraph Avenue at 8pm that night. We just walked out the door and drove all night, never mind we'd actually miss the movie, four friends content to learn about each others' lives on the drive up. We arrived and there was this happening. Wonderful days...~ Diane O
Two of the members founded Journey. George Tickner was an excellent guitar player who later played in the Jerry Garcia Band for a spell and later became a Stanford educated doctor.
