Jackson Browne wrote this song a long time ago, what was he, 15? 16? Nico did a weird cover early on, then it was covered by a whole mess of people, usually very admirably. I have posted various versions over the years, pretty much all good.
I decided to put Jennifer Warnes version up the other day. I have always liked her, a thinking person's vocalist, nuanced and lovely. She was herself a prodigy, offered a recording contract at the age of seven, singing in the Los Angeles production of Hair in 1968. Love her Leonard Cohen stuff, I feel she is very unappreciated.
Funny, I got two emails after I put her version up last week. Tony wanted to know why I had the temerity to put her version of the song up when Glen Campbell's version had so much greater gravitas? Short answer, I have already posted his versions, repeatedly. Love them, wanted to give somebody else a turn.
Scrota wrote, "The vid of Jackson and Gregg Allman singing this together starts with JB and then Gregg chimes in on the 2nd verse and is a rush of two classic versions combined. Sweet!"
Anybody else want to weigh in on who I should have posted instead of Jennifer Warnes? Like Ross Perot once said, I am all ears.

One of my all-time favorite songs by my all-time favorite artist (JB). What's not to like? Publish 'em all and let god sort it out.
