Quick trip

Leslie and I have just returned from a whirlwind two day trip to Santa Barbara.

I needed to see a client and we decided to turn it into a quick jaunt. We have not been there together in years and it was fun to show her around to some of my favorite spots.

I have been doing shows there for years but they always conflict with her schedule.

The picture at left is me at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. The large palm in back of me is my favorite, a jubaea chilensis or Chilean wine palm.

This palm, when mature, has the fattest trunk of any palm in the world. Note my matching shirt, not choreographed.

I hope I live long enough to see the specimen that I have at home get big and fat. And it can watch me do the same!

I  hardly did any picture taking but we did do some nice trucking.

We drove to Lake Cachuma and Santa Ynez and then on to Solvang, Buellton and Lompoc.

Cut over on the 1 and drove back the 54 miles to Santa Barbara through valleys of old and gigantic mossy oaks right out of Lord of the Rings.

Later we took a trip down Cliff Drive in the heavy ocean fog and saw how the other folks live in Hope Ranch.

We had a very nice trip and I hope that we can do it again soon and make more time.

Wow looks fun. We need to do that more often. I spent the afternoon at Live Oak Park and it was really nice seeing a lot of families playing together at the park. Beautiful Day.
