I am happy to announce that the Blue Heron Gallery is now affiliated with Live Auctioneers. I have just created a new llc, Blue Heron Auctions. I am going to start running a few online art and antique auctions a year, probably no more than three or four. I believe that the first online auction will be held in late May or early June of this year. The format will be online bids, left bids and telephone bids, due to the relatively small size of my shop, there will be no in house auction component. In these strange times we have all learned to adjust to the current conditions. This should be an exciting new facet of the business.
The virtual show I just finished showed me that I could reach people in Europe and beyond that I would not normally encounter from website traffic or my show schedule.
I will probably start off with a rather limited lot auction in order to get my feet wet and then expand somewhat over time. There are still a lot of things for me to decide upon and figure out but it should be fun and rewarding. I am going to look to hire a couple of people to help me run the phones on the day of the auction and to help with shipping. I am also going to be seeking quality consignments. The main thing will be to create an auction house of trust and integrity that I am proud to have my name behind. So please stay tuned and in touch!
