Avian Interdiction

I was going through my great horned owl shots today.

It looks like one of them will be published locally this year and I was trying to dial in the optimum image for the publisher.

I took hundreds of shots of this particular owl.

As often happens I guess I never looked at all of the images before, even though they are now over three years old.

Quarter million images on the drive, it gets tough at times to see everything.

But still, it is hard to believe that I never saw these nifty shots I took that clearly show the nicitating membrane over the owls eye. I have captured it often with hawks but never owls. A little freaky, no?

Amazing! The membrane itself is clear, I never saw that before, usually they are white, or am I wrong? ~ Diane O
