I took a year or two of commercial art in college. Great teacher, Jim Hulbert. He worked as an illustrator in Detroit for decades. Worked us to death, old Jim. Two hundred thumbnails by tomorrow morning. You learn to not fall in love with your work. One thing he pressed was how important it was for an artist to to build a reference library of his or her own images. Never borrow others if you can help it. In this assemblage, every element is something I shot at one time or another.
