Great horned owl, Borrego Springs

I was talking to a friend this afternoon who is down at Borrego Springs on a mini vacation at Casa Del Zorro. That resort is one of our favorites. It made me think of our last trip out there. I was hiking around the Tamarisk Grove in 122° heat for two hours searching for owls, to no avail.

I got back to our casita and not in five minutes time this guy flew to the palm tree next to our door. Could have saved me a lot of trouble but somehow that's not the way it works.

Obviously the owl stalked you throughout the 2 hour hopeless photo shoot. He only allowed you to get the shot back at the room because it proves his species' superiority.
