panel from Patton - Mort Drucker |
He had the longest uninterrupted tenure of any Mad artist, fifty five years.
Leslie and I both grew up with Mad Magazine. It was always a magazine for adults masquerading as a kid's magazine. Or maybe we are just adults masquerading as kids? In fact we have the first three years' issues of Mad sitting on the seat of our Eames chair at this very moment.
We were just looking through an issue the night before last, searching for one of Don Martin's legendary glitch's or schnorks.
Drucker was an amazingly talented artist, with a sharp eye and pen and a keen wit, a life well lived.
