Across my many years I have come to notice that those of my friends and acquaintances who have proclaimed themselves to be of a republican persuasion politically have also exhibited strong self-righteous tendencies and a distinct inability to admit to being mistaken in decision-making regardless of any negative outcomes with respect to such decisions.
