OUT OF THE BLUE

Leslie and I caught this tour, way back when, in Griffith Park in Los Angeles. Probably the greatest show we have seen together in the last thirty years and there have been some good ones.

Roxy Music is of course up for the R & R Hall of Fame this year, not that it means shit to them or to me. But they deserve a nod. Let's look at the others. The two leading fan vote getters are Def Leppard and Stevie Nicks. Please. Not in my book. Who else is in the running? Janet Jackson, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, The Cure and The Zombies. John Prine and Todd Rundgren, Rapper LL Cool J and the group Kraftwerk.

I am not a huge fan but I would say Janet Jackson, yes. Todd Rundgren, definitely yes. Zombies, a crime they weren't in years ago. Devo, yes. Love John Prine but he ain't exactly rock and roll. MC5, no thanks, ditto Kraftwerk, Rage, Cure and Radiohead. Let them stew another decade or two. Chaka Khan, why not?
