Yosemite morning

I hadn't shot with my new 400mm lens for quite a while so I drove out to Keith's lake this morning to put it through its paces.

The lake is unfortunately covered with duckweed right now, didn't see as many birds as usual but there was an array of black crowned night herons, red winged blackbirds and egrets.

It was bloody hot and I was dealing with a tripod problem and had to handhold, but difficulties aside, what a lens! 2.8 sharp, it is such a pleasure to work with. Such a precision tool, I admit to being a little intimidated but plan to make use of it at a much higher frequency in the future.

Rather than pair it up with the smaller and faster fps crop sensor D7200, I put it on the D810 today. They both seemed very happy.
