Yosemite under Orion's gaze

First of June

I had a talk with Vlad yesterday. He is  a little concerned about my bird obsession. The conversation was thickly peppered with references to Tippi Hedren in The Birds and Burt Lancaster in the Alcatraz movies. He plainly thinks that I am over the edge.

Quite possibly.

But in my defense when I do go out into nature it isn't just about birds. Yesterday I saw this large and stunning Mariposa lily.

We also witnessed a seriously intense encounter between a rattlesnake and a squirrel. Life or death stuff. Snake might have been threatening her offspring. Wish I had a better picture.

Not all fun and games out there in nature. There are times when you must watch your step. All kinds of cool creatures out there.

We are going to plant a Persian mulberry tree. I had one in Rainbow. Messy but delicious. And as Larry reminded me, they bring tanagers, warblers and orioles. He even gets one of my favorite birds, cedar waxwings.

Going to get one soon, I think at Clausens in Vista.

As a person who spends about four hours every day 365 days a year cleaning up after and taking care of birds I can assure you that you are a long way away from "over the edge". Come over to my house to see over the edge.

Couldn't you get a lot closer to the snake?

Wonderful Blue! Obsessing on nature and a cluttered office are signs of a healthy human being!
I think you'll be fine...
