Early light, Zabriskie Point
I had been camped out on the ledge since four in the morning with an english photographer. At sunrise 200 members of the Contra Costa Camera Club charged us from their bus like a herd of rhino, stepping in our line, jostling our tripods, yelling and making a general racket and on one occasion, dropping their camera gear accidentally off the cliff. For me, photography works best as a solitary pursuit.
Here nature decided I needed a mid ground focus, a stripe of luminosity interrupting an otherwise slumbering landscape. |
