Going Going Gone

"Not much to be said, it's the top of the end... "

A nice workup of an oft forgotten Dylan masterpiece from Planet Waves. And an acoustic version from the bard himself that I have never heard before. I forget how much I like Planet Waves, don't listen to it enough, the rich textures of Robertson and Co. providing such a lush backdrop for the singer. Listened to quite a bit of Dylan on this trip. Not like we will have him around forever. Going going gone

is Bob playing guitar on this track? just wondering..PW is an album that kind of got lost in the shuffle for me..i'm surprized i even have a copy; gonna have to delve into it...the song that really resonates for me these days is "Isis", off the Desire album...

as with Bach, Beethoven, Pops, Duke, Bird, Trane, Miles, Hank, Elvis, Beatles, his songs will be with us always...i just wish people would wake up to how great Bob's later songs are, not just the 60's and 70's stuff, ie "Foot of Pride", "Cold Irons Bound", "To Make You Feel My Love" to name just a few...God bless you, Robert Allen Zimmerman, and may you stay forever young...

I believe that it is Dylan on the guitar, although his playing is more deft than we are accustomed to.

Desire is one of my least favorite albums, only one we had at our little bar when I lived in Israel mid seventies and I heard it to death. Isis may be my least favorite Dylan song ever, too sing songy and harsh.

I was talking to dylanologist Vlad the other day and his equally ardent wife and he feel the same way about the song. Now I can't hear about the similarly monikered Islamic group without also somehow thinking about Hurricane Carter.

As to late Dylan, I am with you, gems throughout the library, no matter the time. Love and theft, Time out of mind, Oh Mercy, consistency across the board and decades.
