Thai String Ceremony

My friend Michael has a thai wife and a child. They commute back and forth between Thailand and the Bay Area. Michael makes jewelry in Thailand and they were working on their new line this week.

He sent me some wonderful pictures of a buddhist celebration of some kind he attended at a thai farmhouse. I believe the remote setting is near his wife's village.

The monks are served by men as they can not be touched by women.

The thai men mostly hang out by themselves and drink rice whiskey. Look like nice chaps.

At some point in time I believe that there was music and dance.

Ouch.

Afterwards the monks offered blessings with some sort of string ceremony.

Thank you for sharing these, Michael!

Thanks for posting, the farmhouse is my wife's parents and it is separated from the village by 12-15 rice patty's. I had the the same type of sports day watched the Niners beat the Packers and the Warriors win their 9th straight. Loved seeing the Chargers beat the Bengals now beat Denver again. There was a time in the 70's and 80's the Giants announcers would have the other teams broadcasters join the booth and got to hear Coleman and when we stayed in La Jolla the Padres games were always tuned in. Attached some Coleman moments.
