Governor Scott Walker quietly signed a new abortion law in Wisconsin today. It would require abortion providers to point out a fetus' features on the ultrasound and have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles to perform the procedure. There have been a wave of these bills lately, nationwide, restricting all sorts of abortions, requiring difficult admitting rights, outlawing late term abortions. Let's see, North Carolina, Texas, North Dakota, Arkansas, Ohio, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, Virginia. Who am I forgetting? Mississippi?

... the ultrasound requirement is designed to help the woman bond with the fetus and convince her to save it. The admitting privileges mandate is meant to ensure an abortion provider can follow up with a patient at the hospital if an emergency arises, they say.So that's the job of the government now, to help women bond with their fetus? They lie of course, they are trying to whittle away the right of a woman to determine her own reproductive choice, bit by bit, by any means necessary. Women are just too stupid to figure these things out for themselves, so they need sonograms and pictures and men to tell them how awful they are.
Was reading about teen pregnancy this morning. Interesting how many states that are pushing these anti choice bills have such a problem with teen pregnancy already.
Had read that Texas, which has a similar bill to Wisconsin, led the nation in teen pregnancy but that is not true, New Mexico does. According to the recently released study by the Guttmacher Institute, the highest pregnancy rate as of 2008 was in New Mexico, where 93 out of 1,000 teens became pregnant. Mississippi, Texas, Nevada, Arkansas and Arizona rounded out the top six states for teen pregnancy.
Next are Delaware, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Georgia, South Carolina, Hawaii, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and North Carolina.
Anybody spot a trend here? How many blue states? I count Hawaii and Delaware. The red states are already a net drag on the nation's economy. Anybody think the solution is more unwanted kids?
