I have an honest question, if you please, regarding all this surveillance business? Is the United States government more afraid of what the Russians and Chinese find out is actually happening or what the American public discovers is really going on?
Russia and China have their own info-slurping apparatus - they already have a very good idea exactly what we're up to.
Our own government - and more significantly, the corporations and contractors on the government teat - are dead-set against the rabble getting uppity and possibly (horrors!) disrupting the cash flow.
Snowden's reveal of just how much of our intel apparatus in in the hands of private contractors has generated more fear and concern behind closed doors than anything else he's done.
