Hawk Child

I am a bit worried about the hawk eyeasses. This has been such a bizarre year. For one thing, no father on the scene the whole time, a first. This is my sixth year of close examination of the nest and things do not feel right. I only see one fledge, haven't seen number two in several days and have not seen the mother in a week.

In a normal year the baby hawks play on the nearby branches for as long as a month. This year I saw one day and then no more. If this fellow is alone I hope that he (or she) can soon fend.

postscript - sunday morning - both fledglings back in nest.
