Myopic Man - google glass

Rod sent me this. Lots of hits on the video from Google, the Google Glasses technology will be here and omnipresent before you know it. They will be adopted without a backwards glance and soon non glass wearing citizens will be viewed with suspicion.

Somehow the whole proposition leaves me a bit nervous and cold. Reminds me of one of the old Schwartzenegger films. Why not just be done with it and stick the damn chip inside your brain? Because that's surely the next thing coming.

Slick technology. Call me old school. I might be the last hold out. Still don't even have a television.  Do we really want to let technology in this close to our central axis? Are people ready to be always on? Will they have the strength to say enough? Remember that every technological benefit has a human tradeoff. Are we asking the right questions about the psychological ramifications of these types of choices?

A wearable computer is of course merely the first iteration, are you ready for the always on net feed and then who knows what farther down the bionic cyborg highway?

Glass..."

Robert, you know the singularity is coming. We all gladly accept replaceable parts. I hope I'm around to get the chip. The glasses kind of remind me of those suitcase size compaq computers I used to lug around in the 80s. Can't wait for version 2 or 3...

Yeah, what the hell. The computer is on almost all the time anyway.

the sharp treble hook is getting set so deeply into the net users mouth that they won't ever be able to spit it out.
