Sevilla y más allá

Am I in danger of losing you, friends? Will one more description of a half eaten tapas plate, one more picture of a moorish castle send you hurtling for cover?  Buckle up. We have three more days tops and I will wrap it up.  I promise. Be strong.

Leslie and I left the elegant and mystifying Alcazar and headed back to the cathedral, climbing the 32 floors of the Giralda tower, an Almohad leftover built by Sultan Yacoub al Mansour in the 12th century.

Afterwards we found a cafe for one last taste of Sevillan tapas, some of the best of our whole adventure.

Seville is simply too beautiful to leave without sharing a few more pictures with you. Click on one of them and you will see them all in large format.

Solar y ejecutoria de tu abuelo
es la ignorada antigüedad sin dolo;
no escudriñes al Tiempo el protocolo,
ni corras al silencio antiguo el velo

Estudia en el osar deste mozuelo,
descaminado escándalo del polo:
para probar que descendió de Apolo,
probó, cayendo, descender del cielo.

No revuelvas los huesos sepultados;
que hallarás más gusanos que blasones,
en testigos de nuevo examinados.

Que de multiplicar informaciones,
puedes temer multiplicar quemados,
y con las mismas pruebas, Faetones.

Francisco De Quevedo (1580-1645)
