Dear Mr. Sommers, my husband knew De Gaston well in the 50's in La Jolla, and worked as an apprentice in his studio. A lot of the surmises in the March blog are off base. We would love to share the truth with you, including his years in Shanghai, early days in Missouri etc. I hope this e-mail reaches you, am a novice at it, and couldn't reach you at the blueheronblast address.
