Gallup poll of period from May 3 through 6, 2012.
46% of americans believe that god created man in his present form within the last 10,000 years. Poll based on random sample data from 1024 adults and has a 95% confidence that the maximum margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points.
"Two-thirds of Americans who attend religious services weekly choose the creationist alternative, compared with 25% of those who say they seldom or never attend church. The views of Americans who attend almost every week or monthly fall in between those of the other two groups. Still, those who seldom or never attend church are more likely to believe that God guided the evolutionary process than to believe that humans evolved with no input from God.
Majority of Republicans Are Creationists
Highly religious Americans are more likely to be Republican than those who are less religious, which helps explain the relationship between partisanship and beliefs about human origins. The major distinction is between Republicans and everyone else. While 58% of Republicans believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years, 39% of independents and 41% of Democrats agree."

Holy, holy shit. Those statistics are unbelievable. Even 41% of Democrats believe God guided evolution!
We're doomed.

Remember, atheists are lower than rapists on the general approval scale...
I guess I need to go rape someone, then.
might help your standing.
You know I don't have a problem with a belief in god. It is when they take the tack that the fossil record is all a big satanic coverup that I start to get the heebie jeebies.
If you think that there was a divine intelligence behind the big bang all those billions of years ago, well have at it...
I have personal Y-DNA tested that is at least 22,400 years old and I don't think that mean old devil had anything at all to do with it.
So you can take all that anti-science mumbo jumbo and stuff it up your poop chute. You can be a moron but don't demand it from the rest of us.
Saw "Inherit the Wind" at The Old Globe last night. Great! It should be required of all imbeciles and Republicans to see it. I don't think it would help, tho. Where can we move?
It's getting really scary here.

Lauren and I just returned from Central Europe where we spent 4 days in Prague, Czech Republic. We were very pleased to hear that at least 50% of the population there is atheist. I guess they have been so devastated by the last 1000 years of religious warfare that they are finally fed up with it.
