Short and sweet

Northwest swell. Swami's has been pumping.

Everyone is pretty burned out on politics and I don't aim to make it much worse. I will make this quick.

It was disingenuous of the President to sign the NDAA act and then tell us how much he hated doing it in his signing statement, Ditto his subsequent pledge to not utilize some of the more grissly portions of the act. For one, he inserted much of the language himself. But secondly, whether he decides to start locking up american citizens in indefinite detention or not, without a trial, he has enabled all of his successors to. There is no sunset provision and these acts tend to live forever. So there is no solace. I term it a betrayal.

Rick Santorum is trying to frame himself as a conciliator who can pull democratic votes and beat Obama. Hey Rick, you lost Pennsylvania by 17% when they figured out who the hell you really were. No way man. You start race baiting in Iowa, a state where only 9% of the welfare recipients are black, you start your little invective against both gays and birth control, I think that you must be smoking crack.

*

Bravo to the Montana State Supreme Court. May it be the first of many to challenge our seriously adrift SCOTUS on Citizens United.

*

Hooray for the President for his recess appointment of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Protection Bureau. The Repubs have been trying to castrate the position since its inception, starting with Warren. Why do they hate consumers so much?

*

Did you check out the proposed Tennessee bill that would give religious people the right to bully gay people?

*

The ACLU just gave its highest score to my favorite candidate, Republican and possible libertarian candidate Gary Johnson. Wish that he had better name recognition. The only candidate I totally respect.
