News from Tottori

Hokusai, seventh volume of Manga, plate 52, titled at right "Sayama Pond of Musashi  Province
My friend Dave married a japanese girl and moved to a rural province in japan several years ago. Dave is a very good man and an intelligent soul and I miss him and hope that one day he will come back to visit.

Dave sent me a bunch of pictures in the last several days. He sent the pic of the Hokusai woodcut over today, my picture of the turtle stare off at Two Bunch somehow triggering his memory. Dave also sent an old picture of his childhood home in the quiet canyons of De Luz, right next door to the Garnsey Ranch from the old citrus label I posted the other day.

Dave lives in Tottori with his wife Saori. He sends some pictures along of Amedaki and Midaki Falls near his present home.

This character is called a fudo- myo. It is customary to see fudo -myo near waterfalls in Japan.

Watch out for falling rocks and don't litter!

Dave's friend is restoring this old house. The whole place seems wonderful. Hope we can visit one day.
