"A blast that whirls the dust"

Intrepid Len, our ace correspondent from the lower east side, sends these pictures of architectural ornamentation from the city over along with the strong epitaph. William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878)was the first dean of American romantic poetry. A lawyer and hog reeve (the man appointed to chart the activities of his town's swine herd), he did a long stint as the editor of the New York Evening Post.
