Kill the Poor

Paul M. sends me this incredible link to a three dimensional printer. Definitely check this out. I believe that it was either a Star Trek episode or should have been.

Warren Buffet points out today that the Bush Administration raised the debt ceiling seven times during its watch. Why are the Republicans getting so sanctimonious when a Democrat tries to do it once when he is in office?

*

Texas is getting ready to execute Humberto Leal Garcia even though as a Mexican citizen he was denied the right to consult with the Mexican Consulate and can not be put to death under international law and convention. The Supreme Court in the typical split will do nothing. George Bush, a death penalty supporter, asked that the execution be stayed. Next time an american is arrested and charged overseas and tries to assert his or her rights, wonder what the host country will say?

Orrin Hatch says it's the poor, not the rich, who must bear the burden for the deficit.

Erwin Chemerinsky wrote a great op-ed on the SCOTUS in today's Los Angeles Times, "Supreme Court closes the door on Justice." I had forgotten about the case where a man did eighteen years in the slam for a murder he didn't commit and the Court wouldn't let him sue prosecutors for withholding evidence that would have aided his case.

This was the Harry Connick Sr. case. Majority didn't think it was fair to castigate a whole department for the actions of a few bad apples. Similar to the Walmart case in a way. As long as you hang the non discrimination sign in the front office, a company can do anything it wants to do, with a wink of course. Corporations are people too, of course, they are the kind of people who bear no responsibility for their actions.

Man jailed for cashing his own check. Like a black man can own a house in this neighborhood.

My blog stats have been making incredible jumps as reflected both in Feedjit and Google Analytics. I am not really sure why but the thing is once again blowing up. I believe that the page views may have been radically undercounted. Could I be headed for a 30 or 40k hit month? Scary. Or it is just an insane one time temporary spike? One time temporary spike...

Jim S. came by yesterday and suggested that I would have a bit more credibility with the proletariat if I stopped writing about my elitist food and dining experiences. My answer is "Why can't I be for the common man and fois gras?"

I went down to Coronado the other day and saw this osprey perched on a light standard. First time I have seen one near the strand. The rocky raccoon of sea eagles.  Wish that I had a longer lens but just jumped out of my car and snapped with what I had.

no offense to Jim but please continue to keep us posted on your fine dining experiences; ditto the music posts, there have been some great ones of late...
