The Fallbrook School of the Arts is concluding Fire Week. The school and foundry had a glass blowing exhibition all week and a bronze pour last night. A huge chunk of Fallbrook came out and everyone had themselves a great time. We looked at resident artists Michael Stutz and Christopher Pardell's works in progress and people off the street were given an opportunity to blow glass.
Mike Reardon took the great shot I show above of Ironhand and Brandon Roy in their space suits during the bronze pour. Their collaborator is the metal artist Peter Mitten. Brandon has been making wonderful bronze bells in a japonism style and teaching sand casting.
The foundry is a wonderful repository of found objects that are visually stimulating and worthy of retinal capture.
My photo group traipsed over today and took a bunch of shots. We walked over to the stone carvers' pavilion to see what they were doing but everything was pretty dormant after the big night. If you have never seen bronze being poured you might try to catch the next event in September.
