Battle is over but the war goes on...

This is my favorite song by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee. I lost my copy and feel fortunate to finally find it on line. I was lucky enough to see them on several occasions as a young man.

The blues of my youth was so incredible. My mother would take us to the American Folk Festival in Washington D.C.. I saw Elizabeth Cotton and Fred McDowell and so many wonderful performers.

Later I would go to the Academy of Music and see George Harmonica Smith and Big Mama Thornton and Stovepipe aka McKinley Peebles. Lot of the gritty old performers. New York City was heaven for a young blues aficionado. Not Chicago, but not bad at all. As I got older it was Son Seals and Lightning Hopkins and Howling Wolf. Bob Hite. Bloomfield. Hollywood Fats. Just another white boy with the blues.
