My friend Bruce took me to a secret spot this morning to see these little hawk straplings. Three of them, just like the raptor birth we had in our own Santa Margarita Valley last year. Nestled high above the ground in an old eucalyptus tree. Mother soared far overhead, keeping us under her watchful eye. I saw a courageous little jay chase and harass a large red tail hawk this morning from my driveway. Not the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog. Another reason to love living in the country.
