We Five was a horrible choice; however a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame roster yielded these additional candidates: Simon and Garfunkel, Lovin Spoonful, Staples Singers, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Rascals, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Byrds, Everly Bros, Earth Wind and Fire.
I did. I'm talking top of the heap and I think it's Beatles, Beach Boys, CSNY. I remember hearing an interview once with the Wilson Brother's father about them singing as young boys in the car with their cousins. Easy to underrate. I am not talking singers, I am talking harmony. The Dead actually came close on American Beauty and Workingman's Dead. Try Attics of my Life or Brokedown Palace.
you're right, the Dead's harmonies on the albums you mention are as good as it gets; as for the Boys, Brian was their resident genius, and he patterned their harmonies after the Four Freshmen. :.(

Airplane's vocals almost make the cut, until Paul opens his mouth. Moby Grape make it for sure but nobody knows them...
Cass Elliot and Dave Mason's album featured some wonderful two-part harmonies.
