Now I sent you that photo that was purportedly only the 2nd known photo of Robert Johnson, standing together with this man Johnny Shines.
In about 1974 or 75 friends and I went to the Ashgrove in LA mid week and they had an undercard featuring somebody named the Blue Rockets. But the headliner was Johnny. There was all of say 15-18 people in the place. We sat in the front row. The Blue Rockets opened and sucked. Shines followed and tore it up and finally he came out backed by the BRs. I looked behind me and there about 6 people left. At the end, the three of us got up and each in turn shook Johnny's hand as we walked out, thanking him for the show.
reminds me of the time i saw Art Pepper, late in life, blowin' his alto in a dive bar in the South Bay, callin' out the chord changes to some broken down old piano player sittin' in with him; wouldn't trade that memory for nada...

Wow.
I look forward to the photo, whoever you are. Send it to azurebirds@gmail.com, if you will.
