Great article today in Wired that traces the H1N1 Swine Flu Virus to United States Industrial Hog Farms. It apparently arrived on the scene in 1998. So maybe it's time to stop bashing Mexico. The first two cases may have started in this country. Link to the article here.
One of the best books of fiction that I have read recently was Annie Proulx's book Ace in the Hole, whose main character works for a company called Global Pork Rind, an industrial ham factory which wreaks all kinds of havoc on its neighbors and the environment.
Another inducement for going kosher?
