Weekend Blast

It is one of those sweet lazy sunday afternoons. It has been absolutely as perfect as southern california can get the past few days. Crisp beautiful morning segueing into gorgeous not too hot days. The last two mornings have had dazzling sherbet sunrises with beautiful little orange pink cloud puffs.

Leslie and I are safely tucked away in our remote villa at Two Bunch Palms, the old Al Capone getaway. We just pulled our tired asses out of the languid warm pool at the grotto.  Lot's of uber angelenos with their perfectly manicured nails and speedos.  Most are friendly - but a few are carrying around so much angst that they snarl if you accidently make eye contact.  I have not yet tried the sleek cashmere lounge robe that hangs in the closet and seems to be the favored dress in these parts.

I have had a fantastic week.  Some nice  sales but mostly great interactions with the wonderful people that inhabit my world. People I don't really even know are walking up to me in the street and greeting me by name.  I guess that's what happens when you live in a little town for 29 years.  And maybe have a big mouth.  I think we live in a world full of people who are basically good.

I had thoughts about pulling the plug on this blog and trying to start some serious short story writing but am afraid that I would miss this daily routine and interaction too much.  In a land of 100 million blogs, it is heartwarming that I have a loyal readership, including many who don't really read blogs.  I will write as long as I can stay relevant and interesting.  I dig that I have regular foreign readership in Tottori Prefecture, Japan (Hello David!), Phuket, Thailand as well as some unidentified reader in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

I still don't have a knife date but feel confident that I can roll with whatever gets thrown down my wheelhouse.  More concerned with my epileptic kitten who despite the Phenobarbital prophylactic is still having convulsions and rolled off the upper deck yesterday. Two of my dogs, Odin and Max are quickly reaching their departure date, Odin with cancer and Max big and old.  Just can't do it yet.  Love them too much and will wait until they are hurting worse. Our puppy Maddy has been roaming and I have been getting calls to come pick her up out of people's koi ponds, especially when I am far out of town.

Here's to a stellar week.

Robert

if you're still there tomorrow, head on over to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, you might catch Federer or Sharapova warming up for the BNP Paribas Open, which starts in a week...
