Howlin' Wolf - Smokestack Lightning

c. 1964

You know, I put up a lot from Youtube, I admit. But the amount of great blues video suddenly available in the public domain is shocking and great. Even if I am just an aggregation point, if I can introduce or reacquaint just one person with Booker White or Wolf or Skip James, I will be performing a mitzvah. Wow, the Wolf... You listen to Johnny Lang, Ratdog, Keb Mo, Tedeschi or some of the pitiful blues playing around today and then just get stunned listening to the originals.

a mitzvah, indeed, thanks...i wouldn't be quite so harsh on today's blues artists, though, there's plenty of good ones out there...
