As a fellow "boomer" this video leaves me to ponder the ethos of "cool". Of course, this group, it's sound and its look are what I know in my bones to be "cool" What is "cool" though has to evolve since to be cool means, if nothing else to be at the cutting edge of new; so what is the new cool? Can it ever survive generational transfer? Hindsight?
I think that hard bop from this period will only sound better with age and will always be "cool". They were doing something that hadn't been done yet and that's always fresh.
