The Stars My Destination

I just read Alfred Bester's novella, The stars my destination, written in 1958.

Very powerful stuff indeed. Bester was so prescient, so powerful. This book will knock you on your ass.

If you don't know about him you might want to check out his brilliant writing.

A bio here.
"The Stars My Destination (aka Tiger, Tiger) had its origins in a newspaper clipping that Bester found about Poon Lim, a shipwrecked World War II sailor on a raft, who had drifted unrescued in the Pacific for a world record 133 days because passing ships thought he was a lure to bring them within torpedo range of a hidden submarine."

I've added it to my list. Thanks for the recommendation.

These two books made a big impact on me in my teens. Coming from the pulp fiction genre, they had a depth that really opened up my imagination.
